Curriculum Picks 2024-2025

Curriculum Picks 2024-2025

I try to hold my homeschool plans with a loose hand knowing that, undoubtedly, things will shift and change. But I still set down my intentions, and pick our read-alouds, curriculum, and resources for the year.

Over the years my list of curriculum has dwindled and my peace of mind has grown. I’ve stopped (for the most part) thinking I’m not doing enough and have settled into the truth that I am doing exactly as much as I can without compromising my peace, joy, or love of learning and teaching.

I’ve trusted that God is deeply invested in my family and that He is good. Out of His goodness, the Spirit will guide me and my children. Gently pulling me away from the plans of the world: success (that looks a particular way), happiness (I’ll opt for joy and peace), and competition (no thanks ✌🏻).

Below you will find my curriculum picks for this school year. These are only meant as inspiration and contemplation. By no means is this prescriptive. We are each blessed with distinctly different children, lives, and family culture and must use discernment and wisdom when picking out curriculum for the year.

Terms & Breaks

This year we are trying a new term schedule to create a rhythm of focus and refreshment. Each term will be five weeks with a week break between each term. We will also have a Christmas Term after Term 2. Here is the breakdown of our terms:

Family Studies

Family studies are resources and topics we explore as a family. Each child will absorb and learn what they need from the material for their current level. This is the key to homeschooling. This method creates a culture of deep discussion, inside jokes, and shared experiences-- which is the heart of a fulfilling homeschool.

This year I asked my children to choose the books they wanted to read and explore.
