A Nordic Christmas

This Christmas, slow down and savor the season the Nordic way, wrapped in blankets and candlelight with a mug of something warm in your hands. For three weeks, your family will trade a packed holiday schedule for the cozy traditions of Scandinavia, baking and reading and wandering outdoors together, and finding the wonder in winter’s simplest moments.

Through four enchanting elements of Nordic living, your family will fill the season with warmth and connection. You will gather books to read by the fire for Jolabokaflod, bake sweet treats and make cozy crafts for hygge, pause for a warm drink and good conversation for fika, and bundle up for the fresh air and wonder of friluftsliv, the Scandinavian art of life outdoors.

Throughout these three weeks, we will read Astrid the Unstoppable by Maria Parr, a warm and funny Norwegian story of a fearless little girl nicknamed “the little thunderbolt” and her mountain village of Glimmerdal.
